Rearcross U-12's 4 - Nenagh Celtic 5

Last Saturday morning saw the start of our U10 season playing host to Nenagh Celtic. The weather conditions couldn't have been better as the sun came out to greet both sides who were anxious to make a good impression. Nenagh Celtic started with great energy and this effort was rewarded by 2 early goals for the visitors inside the first 12 minutes. Rearcross found there rhythm soon after backed up with fine defensive displays from Colm Kennedy and Emily Hurley It was Cathal Dervan who scored first for the home side following great persistence in front of the Nenagh Celtic goalmouth to knock the ball in from close range. Cathal Dervan hit the target again soon afterwards to level matters before the half time break. The second half saw more of the same from both sides with end to end attacking. Nenagh Celtic took the lead early in the half however Cathal Dervan levelled matters again to earn his hat trick. Liam Crump made some impressive and brave displays during the game as the Rearcross net-minder kept the Nenagh Celtic attack at bay on several occasions. Despite some fine performances throughout the field Rearcross could not prevent Celtic taking the lead again with 10 minutes remaining giving the advantage to the visitors once again. It took a great goal from Aaron Lenihan to level matters for Rearcross going into the final stages of the game however Celtic had the last word when a fine shot from just inside the area could not be kept out leaving the visitors with the advantage as the final whistle was blown.
